The Fair Haven care facilities, both in Vancouver and Burnaby have base-funding under the local Health Authorities. Basic care is covered with this funding; however, the things that provide a home-like atmosphere for our residents involve fundraising and donations/bequests.

Fair Haven is recognized for its focus on person-centred care. We are committed to providing a holistic care approach which includes activities and resources that enhance the quality of life of our residents who call Fair Haven home.

Also included in the spectrum of care we provide are our affordable rental accommodations for seniors with limited income. Funding for repairs and upgrades is always gratefully received and used to provide safe homes for seniors in our community living on a fixed income.

No matter how you give – whether through gifts, planned giving, memorial/honour gifts, or volunteering – your help is essential to supporting the Fair Haven community.

Your donation may be one time, monthly or through bequests (stocks and bonds, insurance policies or annuities). As stewards of donated funds, we pay particular attention to ensure your donation makes a difference.


We use donated funds in three major areas:

• Quality of Life Programs

Music Therapy, Art Therapy, entertainment, and Spiritual Care programs

• Capital Equipment/Projects

Equipment such as mechanical lifts, pressure reduction mattresses and oxygen concentrates are some of the items purchased through donations. Garden enhancements and  renovations are also funded through the generosity of donors

• Staff Appreciation

A wonderful way to recognize staff for their commitment to providing person-centred care. A Staff committee, committed to promoting positive, constructive and community building activities for Fair Haven staff determines how the money is utilized.

Ways to Give:

By Credit Card:  

Donations by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express) are processed in partnership with Canada Helps. Tax receipts are issued instantly for all online donations.


By Cheque or Cash: 

Cash or cheque donations may be dropped off in any of the Fair Haven sites or mail a cheque payable to the ‘Fair Haven Homes Society’ to:

 *A tax receipt will be issued for cash and cheque donations of $25.00 or more and will be mailed to the address you provide.


By Bequests:     

You may wish to leave a lasting legacy by naming Fair Haven in your will.

Donations may be in honour or in memory of a loved one and maybe designated for a particular site and/or area for which you want the funds utilized. Please indicate special instructions in your note or donation form, or in the Canada Helps ‘Message’ field.

*Please note that externally designated donations will first be expended for the donor’s intended use and any excess after expenditure will be allocated to general resident support and care.


How can we thank you?

Your support, financial or in-kind, is always greatly appreciated by the residents and staff alike.

A Thank You card is sent to each donor and any gift over $250.00 is recognized in our Annual Donor Board which is posted in both our sites. Cumulative donations are also tracked to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the continuing support of our donors.
