THERE IS NO BETTER FEELING THAN THAT ONE GETS FROM HELPING THOSE IN NEED!

Fair Haven has an active volunteer program that greatly enhances the quality of life for its residents and contributes in a major way to the caring ethos of The Fair Haven Homes.

  • Who are the volunteers?  Our volunteers are caring individuals between the ages of 16 and 96 (yes, some residents are volunteers too) who put aside their own needs to share their time, talents, knowledge and presence with the Fair Haven Residents.

  • How are they needed?  Volunteers assist leisure activities, visit the room-bound, work in the stores, act as escorts, help with personal shopping, entertain, read to and listen to residents, participate in field trips, pet share and help with auxiliary activities.

  • Volunteer requirement.  Because volunteers work in close proximity with vulnerable residents, they must be in good health, be screened for TB and clear a criminal record check.  (Fair Haven will reimburse individuals for costs associated with these checks.)  Volunteers must, like staff, act in accordance to the policies and procedures of The Fair Haven Homes Society.

  • Anything else?  If you can think of other ways you could enhance the lives of Fair Haven residents, bring those ideas to the attendance of the Directors.

  • Want more information or to join the Fair Haven Volunteers?  Please contact Normeo Chung at nchung@fairhaven.bc.ca.
